Terry
Clothier Thompson has added a new feature to her FabriCamp©
classes in Lawrence Kansas. In addition to her home studio weekend
sessions, she will travel to your town and bring her large collection
of teaching quilts, tops, blocks, vintage clothing, and fabrics.
FabriCamp© Roadshow
was created for quilt stores, quilt guilds, and women's quilt
study groups who want to learn how to date their quilts with
a time line from 1790-1945. If you wish just to focus on the
19th century fabrics, style and sewing methods, that is an option.
We view the social and political history thru construction methods
found in quilts. |

A Dusty Garden Grows
by Terry Clothier Thompson
Terry Clothier Thompson presents us with a whimsical block
of the month quilt using patterns designed during the dust bowl
years. Using batiks and gradations where one would ordinarily
see 1930s reproduction prints, Terry brings us a new perspective
on up-dating patterns. Included, besides the block of the month
quilt, are some old favorites from the era. |
Louisa May Alcott - Quilts
of Her Life, Her Work, Her Heart
by Terry Clothier Thompson
Louisa is best known for writing childrens stories and
Little Women, but she was also very involved with the anti-slavery
movement, rights for women, and served as a Civil War nurse.
The heart of the book is the Louisa quilt. In this
quilt there are nine cameo blocks that tell the story
of Louisa and her familys life in New England. Along with
the Louisa quilt, the book contains patterns for
three authentic soliders quilts and another magnificent appliqued
quilt called Concord, Mass. |

Red, Green & Beyond
by Nancy Hornback and Terry Clothier Thompson
In this companion book to Quilts in Red and Green, Terry Clothier
Thompson and Nancy Hornback celebrate 21st century women using
today's new fabrics and 19th century designs. Here, along with
the original photos, designs and history of 1800s quiltmakers,
are 11 new quilts, and a look at the quilters' personal methods
of sewing appliqued quilts.
Terry and Nancy pay tribute to descendants who have preserved
their family-made textiles, stories and ancestors' photographs.
They also rejoice in today's quiltmakers' choices of fabrics
and sewing methods such as fusible, freezer paper and machine
and hand applique. |
