Santa Claus is coming to Cowtown... Decorate your home for Christmas with a Western flair. Get started now with our Cowboy Christmas book that has gift ideas, three quilts, tree ornaments and cowboy boot stockings. Surround your old fashioned tree with a Log Cabin tree skirt. Everything looks so good together, you’ll want to keep it out all year long. Also in the book is a wonderful story about a young man in the 1870's writing his mother and sister, begging them to come out west for Christmas.

As a child growing up in Wichita, Kansas, I remember being fascinated with the imagery of the West. My fifth grade teacher asked me to please stop drawing horses in the margins of my homework. I would wear anything with fringe attached to it. My cousin Carol Jo Kinnamon and I planned to never marry or have kids because we had big dreams of owning a horse and cattle ranch in Arizona. My favorite Christmas gifts were a pair of six shooters with a holster and a ranch set. No dolls for me! Carol Jo and I rode the back roads of our grandparent’s farms, and at the age of 10 or 12 we rode at midnight by the light of the moon and stars. Well, we both got married and went our separate ways. She is still a real cowgirl and horse breeder and I design quilts and write about cowboys.

"A COWBOY CHRISTMAS" has 10 projects total... every project you see on this page is included. The Bunkhouse Comforter and Pillowslip (shown on the cover) are two of them. Make a tied comforter for all the little dudes at your Dude Ranch. Warm, easy and quick, you don’t even have to bind! Also shown on the cover is "Christmas Star" wall quilt. Four pieced red and black trees form a star in the center surrounded by a border of stars and horseshoes a quick gift for a brother, dad, grandson or boyfriend.

Sweetheart Bouquet

A cowboy boot makes a special vase for the flowers a cowboy gives to his sweetheart. I found an old frame and adjusted my design to fit. Find a frame approximately 13"X17" and adjust design to fit by shortening or lengthening the stems of flowers. I used cowboy fabric for the neutral background. To fit the theme of the cowboy comforter, I used red and black for the boot.

Stardust

This quilt reminds me of my cousin and my midnight horse ride and the stars shining so brightly. Enjoy these evening sky stars throughout the entire winter. Hang on a wall or place on a bed.

This little boy probably started riding horses
when he was two or three years old.
