"Portrait of a Pioneer"

"Portrait of a Pioneer" tells the story of our great-grandmothers who left their families and comfortable homes to brave the challenges of westward expansion. I had such a grandmother, named Anna Elizabeth Marshall Clothier. She moved to Kansas with four little children and gave birth to seventeen children in all. She braved prairie drought, hot winds that fed prairie fires, and the grasshopper plague of 1874. This quilt honors her bravery and tenacity. Stories about her life on the prairie are chronicled in my book "Prairie Quilts & Pioneer Stories."
